Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, he is part of the third generation of a family of violin makers and craftsmen. Music has always played a fundamental role in his life, as he studied the cello and the viola da gamba. During and after his studies at the International School of Violin Making in Parma, he worked in the “Rast-Violins” workshop in Zurich under the guidance of his uncles, masters Felix and Kaspar Rast. In his work as a luthier, he draws deep inspiration from the Emilia-Romagna 20th-century tradition. His instruments are the result of a dedication to and exploration of the art of luthery that has been passed down from generation to generation.
